Welcome to Cou Cou Studio ©

Cou Cou Studio is based in Missoula, Montana and provides wedding photography in Missoula and across the state.  At Cou Cou Studio © we believe in modern photos with stories to tell.  Happy, funny, breathtaking, ridiculous stories.  On a scale of importance from 1 to 10 we rate creativity with a 23.  We are obsessed with making clients ecstatic and consistently exceeding expectations.  We believe you share in our love of life, frivolity and fantastic photography.  And a day-in-day-out fascination with color, composition and artistic expression for good measure.

So let's start a conversation.  Let's start talking about what kind of images you believe in.  What kind of moments you want to freeze and how Cou Cou Studio © can be a part of them.  Every story has to start somewhere.  We hope yours starts with us.  You can also follow us on Twitter or fan us on Facebook.

:: Emily and Mark :: Bigfork, Montana Wedding

Emily and Mark are basically ridiculous fun people surrounded by friends and family who love them very much.  If that is all you know as you look at this blog post I think you’d have the main idea nailed.  Lido and I had a great time shooting them as they got married at John Paul II Catholic Church and then celebrated with a fun reception at The Brumar Estate in Bigfork, Montana.  They also allotted a great amount of time for fun photos after the ceremony that came in handy when their rented Jammer broke down with the entire bridal party.  Don’t worry – family, friends, and photographers were happy to take them on to the party!  Thanks for such a fun time guys and your full set of images will be on their way very soon.

Union Ceremony of Mike and Tom :: Whitefish, Montana

What a fun celebration.  Mike Eldred and Tom Patterson celebrated their union with friends and family at Snowy River Ranch in August.  Every wedding is different but you could feel how much these two cared for each other and how much they had shared over the years during the ceremony.  Afterward, guests celebrated with huckleberry champagne and food from The Rising Sun Bistro.  A full moon rose over the valley as guests celebrated into the evening.  Such a great and love-filled event – Lido and I were so happy we could be there to document it for you both.  Congrats you guys and thank you for having us be a part of your celebration.

Robert and Beth :: Memphis Wedding :: Preview

Robert + Beth + BBQ + great friends and family + amazing music + a historic church + a post wedding trolly ride = one fabulous wedding.  We were so lucky to have the pleasure of shooting this lively and colorful wedding.  With a ceremony at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a reception at the downtown train station – this celebration was centered on a happy couple and the bride’s hometown of Memphis, Tennessee.  Thanks for a wonderful time guys and hope you are enjoying your honeymoon in Ireland.  This is just a preview to tide you over but more photos are on the way!  Congrats!

PS: A quick shot out to my second shooter Sarah — she wins MVP for this wedding on the vendor side.  Thanks for being awesome lady.

I love you more than ever, more than time and more than love
I love you more than money and more than the stars above
Love you more than madness, more than dreams upon the sea
Love you more than life itself, you mean that much to me

Bob Dylan

Stephanie, Tim and their little boy Porter were such fun to hang out with for an afternoon while I was in Atlanta.  Such a great family to be around and we were lucky to have some beautiful sunshine during our shoot at their home.  Thanks so much for a great time — you guys can also be credited with making me realize how awesome a labradoodle can be :)  Especially one named Rhett.

Molly and Chip and their new little girl Hollis were such a treat.  Despite the fact that the air conditioning was out at their house in Atlanta (while it was 90+ degrees outside) they were great subjects and gracious hosts.  We had a wonderful time shooting around their new home.  Such a happy family.  Thanks for a great session you guys!  I can’t wait to see what kind of sassy lady Miss Hollis turns out to be.

2011 Wedding Expo

It’s that time of year again – wedding planning time.  It’s been a busy couple weeks talking with brides who were recently engaged over the holidays while getting things organized for 2011.  I wanted to go ahead and give everyone out there a heads up that we will be at the 2011 Wedding Expo this February at the Flathead County Fairgrounds.  The event will be Saturday, February 19th, from 10am-5pm.  Put it on your calendar now and stop by the Cocoa Blue booth to say hi!  We’ll have album examples and tons of photos to check out and get some great ideas from.  It’s a great place to come meets lots of vendors from food to venues and everything in between.  Hope planning is going great for everyone out there and we look forward to meeting folks this February.

Allison and Dan – Montana Wedding

Allison and Dan were married last summer here in the Flathead Valley.  Their wedding took place at the local Episcopal church here in Whitefish and they held their reception at the Lazy River Ranch.  I was happy to second shoot this wedding for Lindsey Jane Photography — the bride and groom were so nice and the details were extremely sweet.  While the snow is dumping outside here in Montana – enjoy this look back at Summer.  Hopefully it will warm you up on this cold winter day.

2010 Photos of the Year

#1 – You can’t go wrong with a full moon and an outdoor tented reception in Montana.  Morgan and Joe’s reception gave us this fantastic view.

#2 – Yet another beauty from Morgan and Joe’s Green Valley Ranch wedding.  A view from across the lake at sunset can’t be beat.

#3 – Mandie & Kirk’s kiss at the Lodge at Whitefish Lake can’t be beat.  Stunning location, beautiful light, sweet moment.

#4 – Lido caught a great detail from Katie and Keith’s dinner reception.  This beautiful table of antiques and cut glass running down a field is one of my favorites.

#5 – Mandie & Kirk‘s portrait session was one of my favorites this year.  With the beautiful fall colors and a dock I had so much fun shooting these two in a fantastic setting.

#6 – Katie and Keith had such a unique set up for portraits with the vintage chair and mirrors on the barn wall.  It made for a great portrait session before their wedding.

#7 – Rob and Erin picked a fantastic location for their summer wedding at Holland Lake Lodge.  They had such a great first dance including this dip.  I just loved this moment between the newly wedded couple.

#8 – Groom tears seeing his bride walk down the aisle.  So sweet and so touching.  Claire and Phil’s beautiful wedding was so sweet and genuine.  I just loved this first moment for Phil.

#9 – Becca and Kurt’s portraits following their St. Louis ceremony was quite a whirlwind.  They were so patient with me to set this photo up and I was really happy with the result.    A beautiful couple surrounded by people who love them is always a good bet.

#10 – Ok seriously.  A bride and groom on rocks at the ocean — who are we kidding?  Of course I love this photo.  Tammy and Troy were fantastic and their St. Thomas ceremony was a highlight of the season.  Love. This. Couple.#11 – Jasmine and Nate’s Bigfork wedding and reception was a fun moment in our season.  I liked these portraits of the couple and then just Jasmine before the ceremony.

#12 – Last and not least this image from Becca and Kurt’s reception at the Coronado Ballroom was one of my favorites.  Becca looked absolutely stunning and I thought this photo perfectly captured their gorgeous party.

A special thanks to Lindsey Jane Photography for having me second shoot several of the weddings shown on this list.  Also a special thanks to Devon Morgan of Photosynthesis Studio for letting me tag along and shoot for her in St. Thomas.  And congrats to all the happy couples.  Here’s to another year of fabulous weddings in 2011.  Can’t wait to see what kind of fun it brings.  Cheers!

Montana Wedding: The MoJoe Reception

One part gourmet dinner, one part dance club, one part ice cream cake — that’s right – ice cream cake.  That’s what made Morgan and Joe’s reception at Green Valley Ranch for me.  Tanya Gersh did a fantastic job putting together this spectacular event — every detail was perfect — and there was even a full moon.  If that’s not “MoJoe” I don’t know what is.  I loved the surprise entrance of the wedding cake – made up of individual ice cream cakes with sparklers for the entire group.  And the gold glitter TOMS the bride had stowed at her table for dance party time was a smart touch.  I had such a fun time shooting this wedding and reception as a second shooter for Lindsey Jane Photography.  Check out all the fun these two had – this is how to throw a party in Montana.  Congrats Morgan and Joe!
