Welcome to Cou Cou Studio ©

Cou Cou Studio is based in Missoula, Montana and provides wedding photography in Missoula and across the state.  At Cou Cou Studio © we believe in modern photos with stories to tell.  Happy, funny, breathtaking, ridiculous stories.  On a scale of importance from 1 to 10 we rate creativity with a 23.  We are obsessed with making clients ecstatic and consistently exceeding expectations.  We believe you share in our love of life, frivolity and fantastic photography.  And a day-in-day-out fascination with color, composition and artistic expression for good measure.

So let's start a conversation.  Let's start talking about what kind of images you believe in.  What kind of moments you want to freeze and how Cou Cou Studio © can be a part of them.  Every story has to start somewhere.  We hope yours starts with us.  You can also follow us on Twitter or fan us on Facebook.

Family Portrait :: Montana Photographer :: Katie + Keith + Leanora

Fall is definitely here.  Last week I had the chance to shoot this beautiful growing family as the temperatures are turning cooler.  Katie, Keith and Leanora are going to welcome a new member to their family later this year.  It was really fun to take some time to document them before this new brother or sister arrives.  We shot these photos in Trego, Montana where the two were married a couple Falls back and you can see their fun, autumnal wedding here and here. Thanks you guys for a great shoot!  Can’t wait to share more photos with you soon.

Whitefish Wedding Photographer :: Leslie and Wade :: Reception

Wade and Leslie’s stunning reception was held at Glacier View Lodge in Whitefish.  With views of a private lake and Glacier National Park, this location provided a spectacular background for these two to celebrate with friends and family.  Amazing food provided by the consistently wonderful Cuisine Machine and a bocce ball court to boot made this wedding reception a night to remember.  If you missed their wedding at St. Charles Borromeo in downtown Whitefish you can check it out here.

Venue: Glacier View Lodge

Catering: Cuisine Machine

Cake: Rising Sun Bistro

Ice Cream: Sweet Peaks

Whitefish Wedding Photographer :: Leslie and Wade

Leslie and Wade’s Montana wedding was such a classy and timeless celebration.  I felt like these two  really brought calm and dignity to their celebration.  Down to their unique family details (Leslie’s pin) and personal tokens (Wade’s class ring), these two embodied how celebrating together as family can connect you to your past as you move into a new future together.  I truly aim in my work photographing couples to capture what makes them unique and special.  Some pairs are wild and colorful.  Other couples are distinguished and quiet.  It is a treat to me to capture the full spectrum of people and really give them something special to have as a record of their moments together as people and family.Congrats you two and thank you for letting me and Lido be a part of your celebration!

Congratulations to Wade and Leslie.  Check back tomorrow for their beautiful, outdoor reception in Whitefish.

Featured in Montana Brides and Grooms :: Montana Wedding Photographer

We are so excited to be featured in the new issue of Brides and Groom.  This wedding planning guide based in Missoula is a great resource for newly engaged couples.  My husband and I were married in Missoula last year and we used it in planning our wedding.  You can check out some of the photos Cocoa Blue has featured in the publication online or just pick a copy up — they are available all over the place in Missoula.  Good luck planning!

Julia and Mark :: Whitefish Lake Lodge Wedding :: Whitefish Wedding Photographer

Julia and Mark had a sweet and heartfelt wedding at The Lodge at Whitefish Lake.  Despite rain, cool temps, and foggy weather — this couple’s ceremony really went of without a hitch.  Their easygoing nature made hanging with them for the day a pleasure.  With beautiful flowers from Mum’s Flowers in Whitefish and a very unique cake, the details of the event really reflected the sweet personalities of the couple.  A May wedding in Montana can often mean rainy showers but I think the unexpected often makes for great photos.  Thanks you guys for such a fun day!  I hope you have fun celebrating your upcoming one-year anniversary.

where in the world :: 2012 schedule ::

The year of travel is starting to shape up around these parts.  Here are the dates so far.  I’m available for portrait shoots on some of the longer trips but in general this time is full.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me with questions or bookings for open dates the rest of the year.  I’m happy to add to the list of photo-fun!

Ginny and Matt :: San Francisco Wedding :: Headlands Center for the Arts Part III

Party time!  After their sweet and simple wedding ceremony Matt and Ginny kicked up their heels with friends and family at the Headlands Center for the Arts.  This location was a great back drop for a wonderful party celebrating this couple’s nuptials.  You can see details here, all the wedding festivities here, and just scroll down to check out all the reception fun.

As a small side-note — for some reason this blog template I’m using seems to be posting the images a little washed out compared to how they actually look.  I’m working to fix this but I wanted to be able to go ahead and share the photos with Ginny, Matt, friends and family.  So for now just know they are more colorful than you are seeing here.

Ginny and Matt :: San Francisco Wedding :: Headlands Center for the Arts Part II

Outside my window right now it is a snowy, wintery, wet mess.  All the more reason it’s been so great to edit thru Ginny and Matt’s San Francisco wedding.  Beautiful weather and unseasonably warm temperatures were the order of the day for this sweet celebration at Headlands Center for the Arts.  No detail was left to chance at this celebration.  Check out the details here and the come back soon for all the fun at the reception.

Ginny and Matt :: San Francisco Wedding :: Headlands Center for the Arts

It is a well known fact that Matt Cate makes some of the best biscuits around.  Maybe that’s why Ginny LaRoe decided to marry him.  Or maybe – it’s just another example of her great taste.  This wedding at the Headlands Center for the Arts in Marin County, California was beautiful from start to finish.  And the best detail: being able to tell how truly head over heels these two are for each other.  There were two moments that stood out for me at this event — how every time I looked at the newlyweds they really looked like they were the only two people in the room when they danced together — and the overwhelming look of gratitude the groom had at the end of the night.  It was one of the sweetest things things I’ve seen in a long time.  So here’s one of a couple posts I’ll have here on the wedding of Ginny and Matt.  Fill up on cute details and getting ready images this round and come back soon for wedding and reception photos.  Congrats you guys!  What a beautiful wedding.
